Your family's faces, in plain English.

What you give us

• The video and audio clips you upload, and the names, relations and languages you type next to them.
• If you record a video, a still frame from it and your first name may appear in reminder emails to the other people invited to the same gift, and on their own pages for that gift (the organizer can switch the names and faces off). It is deleted with your video.
• If you are invited to a gift, whether you have recorded yet, so the others invited can see who is in and remind each other.
• Your yes or no to the short version for social media, if you answer. Unanswered counts as no.
• If you leave a heart or a few words under a finished film, those words and your first name. Everyone in that gift sees them.
• If you ask us to remind you before someone's birthday: their name, the date and your email address. We email you once a year, three weeks before, until you click the stop link in that email.
• If you ask for a printed copy of the book: your name, email and shipping address.
• The occasion, the recipient's name and nicknames, and the questions you asked people.
• Your name, email and (if you give it) phone number, so we can send the trailer and ask if something is unclear.
• If you order the book, a shipping address, which you type when you choose your package.
• The names and email addresses of the people you ask to record.
• If you sign in: your email address, your name, and a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 60 days. There is no password. If you use Google, Google tells us your name and email address and nothing else.
• If you ask a question on the site: the question, the page you asked it on, and your email if you give it. An AI assistant answers right away from our published FAQ and policies, and says it is an AI. Our team sees every conversation and can join it. We keep conversations for 12 months to improve the site, then delete them.

We email the people you ask to record only about this gift: the invitation, up to three reminders saying you asked us to, a reminder when someone else invited presses "Remind" for them (it names that person; the same limits apply), a short thank-you after they record, and the email with their own link when the film is ready. We do not add them to any list. A reply to any of them reaches a person, who stops the rest.

Who sees your clips

• The editing pipeline: software that transcribes the speech, picks lines, and cuts the film. It runs on our own machines.
• One person who reviews the cut before it goes to you, and who checks the captions.
• Once the film is finished: the organizer, the person it is for, and everyone invited to the same gift, each on their own private page. They see the film your clip is part of, never your raw upload.
• The short upright version for social media includes your clip only if you ticked yes, and only if the organizer said yes for the person it is for. Anyone in the gift can download it and post it, so say yes only if you are happy for it to be public. If you change your mind, we make it again without you.
• Nobody else. Not other customers, not a marketing team, not a "sample reel", not a training set.

Where they live

Uploads go to private cloud storage with no public access; every link is unlisted and keyed, and the key is only ever shown to you. The finished film, trailers and book file are shared with you as private "anyone with the link" files, and the film also plays from our own private storage on your gift's watch page, whose link is keyed the same way. Each link is the key: anyone you send it to can watch, so share it the way you would share the video itself.

When they are deleted

• Your uploaded clips and all our working files are deleted 30 days after delivery. This is automatic.
• Want them gone sooner? Email us from the organizer's address and we delete them the same day and confirm.
• The finished film, trailers and book are yours, and we keep them for good, so your links keep working years from now. If you ever want our copies removed, email us from the organizer's address.
• If you start an order and never submit it, the uploads are deleted after 30 days anyway.

What we will never do

• Use your videos, voices or faces to train any model or system, ours or anyone else's.
• Show your film, your book or any frame of it as an example to anyone, without your written yes.
• Sell, rent or share your details or your contributors' details with anyone.
• Send marketing email you did not ask for. You hear from us about your gift; anything else only if you tick the box for it, and one click undoes it.

What you own

Everything we make from your clips (the film, both trailers, the book and its print file) belongs to you, with no restrictions. Use them, print them, post them, remix them. You keep all rights in the clips; you only grant us what we need to make the thing you ordered. If you upload your own song, you confirm you have the rights to it, and the rights stay with whoever holds them.

Captions and transcription

Speech is transcribed by software running locally, on our own hardware, not by a cloud transcription service. Where a model is used to choose the structure of the edit, it is sent the words, never the pictures, and it keeps nothing afterwards.

Payment

Nothing is charged until you have seen the trailer. Payment is taken through a payment processor; we never see or store card numbers.

Questions, requests, complaints

hello@remembermygift.com. A human reads it. For a deletion request, write from the organizer's email address so we know it is you.

This page is the promise we hold ourselves to. If we ever need to change it, the change will be dated here and will not apply to orders already in progress. Changed 22 October 2026: we now say plainly that we email the people you invite about your gift, how optional sign-in works, and how questions asked on the site are answered and kept. Changed 23 October 2026: we keep the finished film, trailers and book for good instead of removing them once you have downloaded them; uploads are still deleted 30 days after delivery; a still from your video may appear in reminders to the others invited. Changed 24 October 2026: the people invited to a gift see who else has recorded and can remind each other, get the finished film on their own page, can say yes to a short version for social media, leave a heart or a note, and set birthday reminders for themselves.
